Nearby, visit the fascinating New Lanark World Heritage Site to find out what life was like for a child worker in an 18th-century cotton mill, or walk to the Scottish Wildlife Trust site at the Falls of Clyde. There are scenic drives, walks and cycling routes on quiet roads, and an equestrian centre, golf, birdlife and nature walks with the Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway and the Ayrshire coast all an enjoyable day out.
