Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Traditional (French) 19th century building, well refurbished. The thickness of the walls and surrounding pine forests help to keep it cool in hot weather. In very hot weather a room fan might be nice. Vincent and Henry were excellent hosts and chefs. The evening meal is a communal affair around one table and we much enjoyed the company of other guests from France, England and Mexico. The three course evening meal was a cannelloni starter with home-made pasta sauce, roast pork with tagliatelle and a chestnut mousse. Excellent local wine. However, the evening meals are a single plats du jour and you would need to check if there was a vegetarian option. We think not. After (short!) walks on the GR20 we sat in the grounds and read. Breakfast was plenty of croissants and pastries, scrambled eggs, homemade jams, local honey.

Negative: Nothing to dislike. Just note it is a 12 minute walk uphill from the station and might be hard for the elderly with heavy luggage. Apart from that a joyful experience.

Summary: Wonderful hospitality in a rustic setting.
