Summary: The property is in the best neighborhood if you're looking for a clean area to stay in, within walking distance of the best shopping, restaurants, and attractions in downtown Rome. We visited other areas, and this was the cleanest and safest within the vicinity of the apartment. The apartment is on the fourth floor with steep stairs and no elevator. It shouldn't be advertised as two bathrooms. One decent sized bath with a shower, sink and toilet. The second was so small, my shoulders touched each side of the walls when I squeezed in there. There was a toilet and I noticed a shower head attached to the wall and a drain on the floor. It can work as a second toilet, but not a second bathroom. During check-in, Frederico was not available but quickly replied by text that he could send someone over to give us the keys and get us into the apartment. A very sweet lady in her 70's met us 30 minutes later and opened the apartment for us. She didn't speak English so we used a translator app on the phone. She gave us a quick tour of the apartment, not really necessary, and then said something about a "tourist tax" of $120 euros. I let her know that I hadn't exchanged money yet and didn't know that I had an additional payment on my arrival. She let me know that she needed the cash or she couldn't hand over the keys, and let me know she'd show me where an ATM is around the corner. I was obviously skeptical but gave in.
