We were awarded this award by VRBO for our actions during the Covid-19 upheaval. How did we earn this award? Well quite frankly we refunded everyone 100% of any and all funds regardless of our own refund policy. We did not have to do this but we did because it was the right thing to do. Most in fact did not. You can rent with assurance with Casa de Memphis and we have over $100,000USD in refunds to prove i Hang Ten, Chill Out, Go Native, “Is that a real monkey?” Nosara, The way Costa Rica used to be, today! Note: Casa de Memphis I is one of the most rented VRBO rental houses out of 160 rental houses in Nosara for two reasons, location and quality. The reviews, the most of any house, speak for themselves. Casa de Memphis is located in the northern corner of Nosara’s Playa Pelada where the Ostional Wildlife Reserve and the Nosara River meet the Pacific Ocean at front door. While Playa (Beach) Pelada is very secluded, it is still convenient to shopping and the other amenities. If you do not mind a troop of monkeys living in the trees above and an array of birds not commonly found in a front yard, this is the place for you. (Some would refer to the location as “Critter Central”.) Beach, wildlife, peace and quiet, and very few people. (Just look over the photos and see for yourself.) Located within a small group of eight houses, only four available for rent, at the north entrance of this secluded beach. Because very few people know about this small enclave, you will almost always have the whole secluded section of Playa Pelada to yourself. And it does not stop there. You have the whole beach to yourself as you walk down the beach to one of the finest restaurants in the state of Guanacaste, La Luna, (voted number one by Trip Advisor). As you walk to La Luna, you can check out the tidal pools and the marine aquarium left by the tide. Every hour the beach area offers up a new setting as the tide comes in and out. Playa Pelada is the best place to swim of the three beaches in Nosara and kids can't get enough of the tidal pools. The reason for this is that there is a reef just offshore that tames the swell. One thing to note about beaches in Costa Rica, no one is allowed to build within 200 meters of the high tide line. Casa de Memphis I is on the 200 meter mark. Yes it is on the beach but as is the case with all beach houses there is an area that is grown up in vegetation that no one is allowed to manipulate in any way. The beauty of this is that there is a path through this small patch of jungle and as such when you get to the beach (30 Second walk) beside your probably being the only one there, you will not be looking at any of the houses. Green vegetation on one side, blue Pacific Ocean on the other. Very natural, unspoiled and private, yet seconds back to the house. On the way to La Luna you will pass the only beach bar in Nosara, Olga's. La Luna and Olga’s are located at the south entrance of Playa Pelada and this is where the small fishing boats come in and out of and is also a great local surfing spot. If you walk down there early in the morning you can buy fish directly from the fishermen as come in at embarrassingly low prices. (This is a local hangout as very few people/tourist know about this entrance.) Casa de Memphis I (Remember there are two Casa de Memphis’, I and II) was constructed in 2007 and is a fully air conditioned beach house with two master bedrooms, each with its own massive bathroom, vaulted ceiling, private walkout balcony and a King and Queen size bed with new mattresses as of 2016. The bigger of the two bedrooms has a bunk bed off to the side carved into its own area. (All mattresses have insect proof bed encasements.)The house is fully furnished and equipped for a party of 6 and has a water storage system that will supply all of your water needs when they are forced to shut off the entire water system in times of draught during the evening hours. The houses sits behind a secure gated entrance at the end of the road with secure off street parking. No through traffic as you sit on the front porch and try and figure out what kind of humming bird that is. As of January 2009, the house has high speed, wireless internet. Casa de Memphis is set up for the weekly renter. Very child friendly with a crib and high chair. (Because of the way the house is constructed it is hard for children to do any real damage, although some have tried.) The house comes with High Speed Wireless Internet, cable TV, linens, a full size safe for your valuables (large and small, i.e. laptop computers that weighs 500 pounds and is bolted to the floor), weekly house cleaning, beach chairs, beach towels, monkeys, and they are all included at no extra charge. The house is managed by a couple that live just up the hill and are always on hand to answer a question or take care of something. There is even a comprehensive black book with loads of information about the house and the area that is regularly updated by the owner. Everything you need is already there. Beach chairs, beach towels and much much more....... Tired of cooking? We can arrange for a private chef to do all of the shopping, come to the house and prepare the menu of your choice at a mere fraction of what dinning out would be. This is the best bargain in Nosara and the wife of the owner of the house takes full advantage of this. Imagine, someone comes to the house at 17:00 (5PM), cleans, prepares dinner, cleans up afterwards and departs by 20:00 (8PM). All this for much less than taking the family out for dinner. Tell us what you want and we will make it happen. (Most people choose to take advantage of this for the night of the day they arrive.) NOTE: Nosara, like many other beach communities, is experiencing a building boom. The northern end of Playa Pelada, where the house is located, is the only location free from the early morning construction noise, truck traffic and the associated dust. Dust is a serious issue from December to May due to the lack of rain. While there is very little traffic in front of the house we still apply molasses to the road out front to seal off the dust. (Place smells like pancakes for the first week.) Security: Costa Ricans are by nature a very passive people. That said petty theft is an on going issue that has subsided greatly in the last year. Nothing neutralizes this issue more than common since. CdM I & II have monitored alarm systems and industrial size safes. No other house available for rent has this level of security. Please leave valuables at home but bring your common sense. Dave Caywood, Owner Tips on renting a house in Nosara: First and foremost have your dates set. Second decide if you want ocean view (up on the mountain overlooking Nosara) or beach access. One or the other but not both. There are only about 15 houses on the Exclusion Zone boundary for all of Nosara. The rest are further away. (Casa de memphis I is one of these 15). Needless to say the walk to the beach varies wildly. Your priorities should be in this order, security, location and the attitude of the owner. One suggestion, ask the owner for references of guest who have stayed there in the last 30 days and never forget that NOTHING IS BETTER THAN CALLING THE OWNER.
