The result of a year of craft + care, The Lookout is a fabulous getaway spot just 50 minutes from San Diego.
Looking for a peaceful retreat? a weekend adventure? an alternative, weekday remote teaching /work space? and/or even simply a place to recharge by taking in a spectacular sunset and quiet evening during the week?
With all essential [bedroom | bathroom | kitchen] amenities, a gorgeous deck with built-in splash pool, a breathtaking view, and volumes of quiet, The Lookout is the perfect space to totally relax and/or enjoy and explore all the backcountry has to offer:
+ the open air | the views | the beautiful landscape and sky | the restorative power of nature;
+ over 30 award-winning wineries and ciderhouses (Milagro Winery is 2/10 of a mile away; and almost a dozen amazing others are less than 10 minutes);
+ terrific eateries | shops | events |experiences in the heart of the San Diego Back/Wine Country. Main Street in Ramona AND Santa Ysabel and Wynola are less than 15-18 minutes from The Lookout in opposite directions). And just 5 more minutes past Wynola is the quaint mountain town of Julian.
+ walking trails on the property and nearby hiking trails (including Potato Chip Rock, Iron Mountain, Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserves and Nature Center, Inaja Memorial Park, and Three Sisters Falls Trail).

Some additional things to know:
PRIVACY: The Lookout is indeed private and secluded. It does, nonetheless, share the same 10 acre parcel with a main house which is a tree/brush-filled football field away. The lovely tenants of the main house and you will likely not even know each other are there.
WEATHER: In the height of winter it can get quite cold, and in the height of summer, quite hot. Do check the weather forecast and pack accordingly. I have tips to offer to help you stay warm and cool and comfortable.
LENGTH of STAY: weekday or weekend . . . 2 nights is better than one if possible. It’s just so lovely to have a full day to totally relax and/or make the most of the area. Currently, instant booking is set for two night minimums. If you are looking for only one night — especially if your requested night is only a few days out — feel free to send an inquiry.

MAKING THE MOST: In addition to enjoying The Lookout, my family and I have really enjoyed coming to know the jewels that are Ramona, Wynola, and Santa Ysabel. (And they’ve been here this whole time!) The point, though, is that I would also be happy to help you make the most of your total trip with specific recommendations, and could even help plan possible itineraries specific to your interests, etc.

Summary: I came to the lookout for a restful, restorative weekend of silence and solitude in Nature. It surely delivered what I was looking for. The location is scenic and serene. The cabins are well-appointed, welcoming, and comfortable. I enjoyed cold plunges in the splash pool in the morning, walking around on the rocks, and simply sitting and listening to the silence. I was even pleasantly surprised by the snow during my stay. I didn't expect that in San Diego. Micah is a very attentive host, very helpful and accommodating. I recommend visiting the Lookout for anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway.
