Fortress J is the extension of the original honeymoon suite which belonged to the Firefly Estate. Located within the Spring Plantation, sadly now in ruins, it was a large plantation on the island of Bequia in the 18th and 19th centuries. The plantation had a sugar factory in the 19th century, and some of the original buildings still remain. The plantation also has many fruit trees and ancient palms.
The house comprises of 4 large bedrooms, three of which are en-suite, a pool, private courtyard, large kitchen and utility room, pantry and balconies with fascinating views across Spring Bay. Its location is perfect for kite surfers' lovers as it is only 10mins walk to Spring beach and to the main town Port Elizabeth where you will find an array of restaurants and bars.
One of the best ways to explore Bequia is on foot and there are several walks which are worthwhile doing. Bequia is a fairly mountainous Island and is mostly covered with natural forest.
