Your perfect powder paradise awaits. Your host, Jamie moved to Powder Mountain in 1970 as an infant and has been here ever since. She spent her childhood living in the parking lot in a single-wide trailer that would become buried enough in the deep snow that skiers could ski over the top of it. She went to ski school like most kids go to daycare learned to ski before she can even remember. Her parents and grandpa built Powder Mountain on ground that was rangeland for their sheep and cattle that has been in the family four generations. Hard work and determination and 500 inches of the best dry light powder snow made for success and Dr Alvin Cobabe and his four daughters and their husbands built the built the largest ski area in the US. Jamie’s husband and kids have joined in and are are aiding guests as the discover the magical mountain they all grew up at. Guided by the iconic Aleta Cobabe who still operates the Columbine Inn and Elkhorn Ranch the Cobabes are still involved at the resort and in the local farming economy while they sold the ski area about ten years ago. Eden would not be the same if it had not been for the Cobabe vision that created Powder Mountain and the genuine authentic ski experience they created. Alvin was noted for saying, “ We have done so Much with so little for so long that now we believe we can do anything with nothing. “And he did just that.
