New! East West Nest ~ Walkable ~ Private ~ Stylish | Cottage in Asheville

We are new to VRBO, but have almost 300 five-star reviews on Airbnb! Our space is a free standing carriage house on the east side of hip West Asheville. We have one bedroom with a queen bed and a full sofa bed in the living room. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening beverage from the second story porch in the trees. With a ten minute walk, get to New Belgium Brewery, Taco Billy, Early Girl Eatery, Owl Bakery, and the French Broad River Greenway. Find yourself in downtown Avl or in the River Arts District with just a 5 minute drive.
Our space is bright and welcoming and has been outfitted with all the comforts you'll need during your stay. The East West Nest is a tiny 450 square feet, but it's just perfect for the minimalist couple, small family, or friends coming to enjoy this incredible city. Self check-in is easy with keyless entry.
We welcome your one well behaved pet during your stay. If you have more than one pet, we're open to hosting them if you check in with us before booking. Please be sure to list your pet on your booking so we know they'll be joining you.
The bedroom has a queen size memory foam mattress and the living room has a full size pull out couch with a foam topper. The bedroom is tiny and will not fit a pack and play or a dresser, but you'll find a nice sized closet with hangers and shelves to unpack.
You'll find the kitchen well stocked with tea, coffee, fixings, spices, and cooking oil. We have a coffee maker, electric tea kettle, microwave, countertop toaster oven/air fryer, two burner hot plate (there's no oven), and mini fridge with small freezer. You'll have all the cookware, utensils, and plates you'll need to make and enjoy your meals, including a nutribullet blender for your smoothies. That said, if you're foodies like us, you'll have plenty of excuses to eat out for every meal! Wondering why we don't have a stove/oven or full size fridge? In January of 2018, the City of Asheville disallowed those items from short term rental properties. Only folks who were grandfathered could continue to have those amenities. Because we started the East West Nest in June of 2019, we fell under the new rules.
Our home is accessed by two flights of stairs (one with no railings coming from the parking area to the stone walkway and the other leading up to the front door), so we do not recommend this home for anyone with walking difficulties.
There's a great second story porch to enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktails on. In the summer, you're nice and shaded by a large Black Walnut tree. In the wintertime, you can see views of the western mountains and can catch some pretty amazing sunsets.
There's a smart TV in the living room with Hulu (no cable) and a plethora of magazines and guides on what's up in Asheville. We love history, so you'll find a bunch of old pictures and maps of Asheville and West Asheville on the walls, plus art from local artists.
We have off street parking for two cars. The parking is a gravel/grass driveway parallel to the street.
Your space sits above a two bay garage, but we don't park our cars in there. We only use it for storage, so you may hear us open the garage doors to get our gardening or yard tools out. We'll only open it between 9 am and 10 pm if we need to.

The Neighborhood ~
We LOVE our neighborhood! Our favorite spots to walk to are Taco Billy (get the mama's favorite taco!), Hole Doughnuts (cutest doughnut shop ever), Pizza Mind (awesome salads and yummy pizzas), Archetype Brewing (darn good beer), East Coast location of New Belgium Brewing (great beer, incredible people watching, good river views, food trucks), the French Broad River Greenway (miles of trails to bike or walk on), Owl Bakery (the best pastries), and Early Girl Eatery (great brunch spot).
East West Asheville has seen an explosion of development lately, so you can find joy in just walking or running the neighborhood streets to see the funky new houses, creative landscaping, and occasional views of downtown Asheville from the roads at the crest of the hill. It's fairly hilly around here, so you'll get a workout in between your beer and doughnut tasting!
When you're ready to spread out beyond our neighborhood, you've got really easy access to the highways and bridges that link you into downtown, the River Arts District, or all the way out to the mountains. Uber and Lyft are readily available around here and you can get to most local places for under $10.
