2 Bedroom Apartment in Santo Amaro, Lisboa
BRIEFLY Cozy, pretty and bright flat in a quiet Lisbon area, conveniently located between the city centre and the Belém tourist spots, close to the river, the landmark "25 of April" bridge and the train line leading to the beaches. Alcântara area has many points of interest, like the LX Factory cool converted factory zone, the riverside walk, bars, restaurants and museums. Beside two train stations (one is the line to the beaches) it's also served by historical tramways and many buses going to all sides of Lisbon. Good local commerce. ABOUT THE FLAT This is my own apartment, not a tourist investment, so all decoration it's personal and original, according to my taste and needs, with souvenirs from my trips around the world. The building it's from the 50s and I tried to preserve some of its vintage flavour. The windows and the closed balcony are oriented toward the inside patio gardens so you won't hear any street noise, only the chirping of the birds. There's a convertible sofa in the sitting room and a twin/double bed in the secondary bedroom (interior room), fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. HOUSE RULES - NO SMOKING PLEASE - NO PARTIES - NO NOISE BEFORE 9AM AND AFTER 10PM (RESIDENTIAL AREA) - NO PETS - I NEED TO ADVISE THE FOREIGNERS AND FRONTIERS SERVICE ABOUT THE GUESTS IDENTITY: ID TYPE AND NUMBER, DATE OF BIRTH, COUNTRY AND ADDRESS OF RESIDENCE ETC. YOU NEED TO FILL IN A RECEPTION FORM. OTHERWISE I COULD BE FINED 100-2000 EUR. NEIGHBOURHOOD Alcântara has a charm of its own, provided especially by the nearby bridge and river and the local flavour, uncontamined by mass tourism. You have the Oriente (Asian cultures), the new and amazing winning design award MAAT (Museum of Architecture, Art and Technology) and the Carris Transportation museums nearby. Close to my place you'll find the less known belvedere (miradouro) of Santo Amaro, with gorgeous river views and a XVIII century round chapel, decorated with fabulous period azulejos. There are 4 supermarkets and many cafés and restaurants within walking distance. TRANSPORTATION Linha de Cascais train (heading to the beach, 35 minutes ride to the last stop), around 10 different bus lines and 15&18 tramways. Check here for bus prices and cards: - TAXIS are quite cheap in Lisbon, you can take one from the airport (around 15EUR daytime, could be more at night), try to get one at Departures if there's a long line at Arrivals - TRANSPORT CARD - automatic machines don't take foreign cards, use cash. You can buy it at train or metro stations or tobacco shops (Havaneza do Cálvario close to my place). I recommend you use the ZAPPING system, pay as you go, meaning you charge 10 or 15 EUR and you can use it for all transports until the end of credit: train, bus, metro and cross the river boats. If you buy metro or train trips you won't be able to use it for buses for instance. One trip is good for 60 minutes on buses and metro meaning you only pay once, but you can use the metro only once in a combined trip. More info here: - You can buy or recharge your transportation card at Havaneza do Cálvario - TO MY PLACE FROM AIRPORT By metro, the red line goes to Saldanha and from there you have several direct buses, 738 is the best (Rua dos Lusiadas stop), but also 720 and 727 drop you very close (Cálvario square). Make sure you get the bus to the right direction, towards Alcântara. - FROM SANTA APOLONIA TRAIN STATION: Bus 728 to Alcantara - FROM SETE RIOS CENTRAL BUS STATION: LInha de Azambuja train to Alcantara Terra Station - TO AND FROM THE BEACHES: Linha de Cascais from Alcântara Mar - Supermarkets Meu Super and Minipreço are 2 minutes away, take left when you exit the building and the first street to the right, the supermarkets will be in front of you. The coffee for the coffee machine is Continente brand at Meu Super.
