Negative: The price–quality ratio did not really match what we experienced at other places during our two-week trip. The accommodation was clean, but overall it felt quite cheap and outdated. This was also the only place on our trip where we had to pay in cash. A very uncomfortable situation happened with the payment, as the owner calculated the exchange rate into colones incorrectly, significantly in their own favor. At first, we were unsure ourselves because the currency was unfamiliar, but later the owner admitted it was indeed their mistake. It was also stressful that we had to arrive at a specific time. When traveling around Costa Rica and going on nature trips, you can never be sure how long the roads will take, so this added unnecessary pressure, especially since the owner actually lived next door. The extra bed for our teenager was a sofa bed that, when opened, turned out to be just a mattress on the floor. A towel and pillow had also been forgotten. The owner brought them later, but the “pillow” was actually a hard sofa cushion placed inside a pillowcase.
