This beautiful home is our family getaway to complete seclusion and natural beauty. The main house is a unique straw bale construction with 180 degree views of the Sierra Foothills and a wraparound porch for viewing sunsets and sunrises.
Set on 55 acres, you will be surrounded by nature and won't hear or see a neighbor during your stay. The property also has a guesthouse, a cabin, an airstream, a pool and a hot tub, so it's perfect for retreats or family reunions.
The space
Main house:
Our home is a straw bale, energy efficient home. It's a really creative and beautiful space as Chelsea is a Bay Area interior designer..
The house has two bedroom and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is a bunk room that sleeps 8. The main living environment is open floor plan and there is a dining table that seats 8 or more people and a full equipped kitchen and two main living areas. The house has a wrap around porch with lots of places to sit, read, watch the sunset and relax. We have a deck off the porch that houses a hot tub and a large outdoor seating area. Our pool is right below the house and there is a patio and grill beside the pool for hanging out, star gazing and enjoying warm days.
Guest Cottage:
100 ft from the house, is a guest cottage with a queen bed that sleeps 2. It has an indoor sink, a composting toilet and an outdoor tub and shower.
Cabin
200 feet down the hill is a newly built guest cabin. The cabin has one bedroom and a sleeping loft along with a kitchen, a bathroom, an outdoor shower and a beautiful back porch.
Airstream
2 guests can sleep in our 1959, fully refurbished airstream. We recently towed it across the country but now it's docked and ready to provide a unique stay.
Pool
The pool is warm enough for swimming from May through October and is the center of many of our summer weekend days.
Guest access
The property is 55 acres and is full of hiking trails, streams, and we even have old mine shafts on our land. Its a unique place to get away to.
Other things to note
Our home is a remote place. We live a mile off of a paved road, and our private driveway is dirt and a quarter mile long. When you come here, you are really getting away from it all. We are 20-25 minutes away from Murphys, 15 minutes away from Mountain Ranch, and 30 minutes from Arnold. Bear Valley Ski resort is an hour away. Yosemite is 2.30 hours away. There are lots of things to do in our area, so please contact me if you want suggestions of things to do if you don't want to spend your time entirely at our house. My guess is that you won't want to leave once you get there though.
Please note that the house is very well insulated and stays cool inside in the summer but we don’t have a/c.
