Summary: My family and I had travelled from London to Marbella (1400 miles) by minibus on our annual trip of summer madness by driving non-stop to the Costa del Sol. Whilst we had planned to arrive at the hotel in time enough to have a meal and a few drinks before bed, traffic in Madrid and elsewhere meant we were quite delayed. I called the hotel and spoke with David, (one of the owners) who advised me that the Bar and restaurant closed at 10.00pm but not to worry as they'd "sort something out when we arrived".
We eventually rocked up quite a bit afterTen and were initially shown our rooms in an unhurried manner before being served 3 excellent courses at our leisure. We were most grateful to the guys for doing this for us as by the time we had retired it was really quite late. They will have our eternal gratitude.
Aside from the excellent service and utterly delightful setting the hotel has a rustic charm that causes surprise when you consider that it is only 16 years old. The pool area is clean and tidy as are the rooms. If you are looking to explore this part of the world you would (I am sure) be hard pressed to find a better hotel at all let alone for the very reasonable price we paid.
I have no hesitation in recommending this great little find which is heavily themed on the "Smurfs" or as David advised me "Schtumps" of you are in France. This is because this is where the 2 recent Smirk films were launched here.
A full recommendation from us! Thanks again.

Summary: A lovingly restored rural hotel in the tiny, blue-painted hill town of Juzcar, Hotel Bandolero was a great escape from the noise and crowds in Andalusia. The bilingual proprietors gave personal attention and great insight into the area. Terrific restaurant complements of chef Ivan. The drive in from any direction can be somewhat harrowing, as the winding, two-way road is just over one lane wide as it passes through the gorgeous Sierra Nevada. The smurfiness was cute but a little cloying.

Summary: Only tiny moan is that for a hotel based in the middle of a blue Smurf village, the restaurant menu could have included a few kids meals ? The food was good but nothing my two would entertain. Probably lack of education on my part but that's kids today !!
