Noxon Pond cottage was transformed with love in 2011 from a ramshackle goat shed to a delightful 2 bedroomed holiday cottage. Set beside its own coarse fishing pond and within a charming garden, it now offers flexible accommodation for up to four people in 2 bedrooms. Extra accommodation is also available in the farmhouse and there is space for tents in the garden. The cottage is perfect for walkers, cyclists, dog lovers, birdwatchers, families and of course fishermen.
A snapshot: 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 bunk), bathroom with bath and overshower, very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave. Living room with feature patio doors out to pond, TV, DVD player, library and games box for rainy days. Free fast Wifi. All linen, towels and heating charges included. Airsourced underfloor heating. Lovely secluded garden with picnic benches and BBQ.
Fishing at Noxon Pond, which is well stocked with wild carp, bream, tench, perch and roach is a popular pastime for our visitors. If you’re a professional, we have a secure lock up for your equipment; if a first time amateur, a spare fishing rod, a net and a book which shares all the secrets of angling… Cottage visitors pay half the normal day rate for fishing. At quiet times, you might be tempted to take out a canoe or our homemade coracle onto the pond. If you’re here in winter and the pond freezes, ask us for some iceskates and discover your inner Torvillle and Dean!
The cottage is beautifully situated at Noxon Farm and on a fine summer’s evening, there is nothing more pleasant than sitting on the patio, watching sheep and cattle graze on the fields across the pond. (You may well see other wildlife around the cottage – deer and wild boar are common and the Forest Big Cat has also allegedly been spotted.) A working dairy and sheep farm until 2001, Noxon retains its beautiful original stone buildings, some of which date back to the 17th century. We believe passionately in sustainability and are delighted that some of our buildings are now being used by local craftspeople – currently including an artist, an antique furniture restorer, a tepee maker and a potter, all of whom welcome visitors. We also have our own onsite mechanic should your car give up the ghost and our latest addition - a personal trainer who will be happy to put you through your paces - his rates are very reasonable. We are proud that Noxon is a productive small community with a friendly family atmosphere which draws our visitors back again and again.
