2 Bedroom House in Daratsos

ELEA is located at Makris Tichos, one of the most beautiful areas of Chania, only 4km far from the city centre. The visitors will surely be impressed by the tasty decoration, the feeling of homely care and exterior environment which is immersed to the Cretan landscape. The charming swimming pool offers moments of relaxation and calmness under the sun, while the guests can enjoy peaceful shady spots in the big garden with local olive and banana trees. Moreover, the four most beautiful beaches of Chania are only 400m away and are easily accessible on foot.
The house (75 sq.m.) which was renovated in 2011 has a big modern and well-equipped kitchen with lively colors, big cupboards and a sofa bed for one person. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with bathtub and one with shower cabin. There is a big balcony with great view to the swimming pool and the bar-restaurant which is surrounded by olive and banana trees.
In the area there are two big super-markets and several restaurants (300m). There is well-organized transportation to the town (every 10 minutes) and the bus stop is only 300m away. We have created a peaceful place for relaxation and calmness and we are waiting for you. It's a home away from home.

Operation during the winter period (November - April): (1) Outdoor facilities (e.g. swimming-pool, pool bar, etc.) are unavailable. (2) Cleaning services as well as washing machine services are provided upon request and are charged extra (25€ for cleaning the house, 8€ for washing clothes, 6€ for drying clothes). (3) Power consumption (electricity) is calculated at the end of every month and is charged extra according to the pricelist of the power supplier.

Summary: We stayed at Elea apartments with 3 adults and 1 toddler for 14 days during our recent trip to Crete. The complex is very pretty, surrounded by olive and banana trees and only a short walk to restaurants and several beautiful beaches. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help. Upon request, we received a baby chair and travel cot for our toddler. The swimming pool is great for kids and there are a lot of kids toys around for amusement. The numerous resident cats are also part of the experience. The apartment itself was unfortunately worse than expected. We stayed in one of two apartments with two bedrooms on the ground floor. The apartment is relatively small and has seen better days. Importantly, there is absolutely no WiFi in the apartment, so better come with plenty of roaming data. The furniture, appliances and equipment were all quite old and/or heavily used, and the two bathrooms were both very small. One bathroom is so narrow that there is no way of sitting on the toilet without touching the wall with the knees; and the shower doesn’t have a shower curtain or similar so that the bathroom is flooded every time the shower is used. The other bathroom has a tiny two-levelled tub. When we arrived, there was no hot water and a few days into our second week the hot water failed again. We let the staff know about it and they managed to fix it relatively quickly both times. Most disappointing, however, was the kitchenette. We had planned to cook frequently for ourselves in the evening, but this was not really possible. The kitchenette only has a small hob and very limited kitchenware. There are no work surfaces whatsoever to prepare meals. The fridge was also old and had a massive block of ice in it so that some of our food towards the back of the fridge got frozen. One bedroom has a double bed, the other two single beds. The mattresses were unfortunately really poor so that we ended up with backaches after a few nights. There are two well-working A/C units in the apartment which are both located in the bedrooms. This means the living room is usually very hot and hard to cool down without opening the doors and letting the mosquitoes in. Overall, we give it 3 stars and would not return.
