A short walk to the north will take you to the calm, clear water of Yal Ku Lagoon with its large variety of colorful fish. And a short walk to the south you will find Akumal Bay where seeing a turtle is just about guaranteed, along with squid, parrot fish and eagle rays.

In the living room a built-in L shaped couch faces the sea view and beach and it can become two individual extra beds.

Summary: I came to akumal with my partner for 6 days. The location was absolutely perfect being directly on the water on half moon bay. You could walk right from your bed into the ocean which was nice since you have to pay to use the beaches. It was walking distance or a golf cart ride away from delicious restaurants and grocery store. The snorkeling right off the private beach was really good and we loved having use of the beach lounge chairs/umbrella. Our host was wonderful and super helpful booking taxis or answering any questions and solving problems. The space itself was beautiful and spacious however it really really needed a few updates. Only a couple of cons: The beds were very uncomfortable and the toilets were barely functioning even without toilet paper. It smelled a little mustly/mildewy but that might have been because we were on the first floor and so close to the water. Overall cleanliness was ok but not great.
