The Neighborhood: Peniche, close to Atougia, is situated on a peninsula. Nearly the whole part of the peninsula is characterized by a high cliff. Only in the harbour area and at the northern end it is flat. At the westernmost point is Cap Carvoeiro with a lighthouse. From there you can see the Berlengas archipelago outside in the ocean. A path and steps lead from the coastal road to the cave Gruta da Furninha. To the south and north of the peninsula there are long stretches of sandy beaches that invite you to swim and surf. To the south lies Supertubos, one of the most famous surf spots in Portugal. To the north a fine sandy bay stretches over 5 km to Baleal. The peninsula can only be reached via a narrow, approx. 300 metre long road, bordered by beautiful beaches on both sides. On the peninsula there are several cosy beach cafés and restaurants and is only 6 km away from Atougia. Portugal has the best conditions for surfing in Europe and with its countless surf spots offers a lot of waves for every surfer. The beaches around Peniche are considered the best surfing area in Europe. The waves of the legendary surf spots "Supertubos" and "Baleal" are ridden by surfers from all over the world. In autumn 2019 the "Rip Curl Pro Portugal" will take place here for the eleventh time. Meanwhile there are many different surf schools and surf camps in the direct surroundings of Peniche. A special highlight is the newly opened largest outdoor museum: Dinoparque Lourinhã nearby. Other Things to Note: The prices are considered as total price for up to 4 persons and contain the costs for electricity, gas, water, final cleaning, bedlinen and towels. Possible heating costs will be charged according to consumption. For the 5th and 6th person a supplement of 5 € per person and day will be charged. The prices are only valid for bookings of seven days or longer. Arrival and departure is possible on any day of the week.
