Being a little cheaper to stay and live than some other parts of Rome, the area is a favourite of artists and creatives and the friendly community atmosphere, as well as the fact that it is one of the safest suburbs of the city, means it is an ideal place to stay during your trip to Italy’s capital. Gianicolo (or Janiculum Hill) is officially not considered to be one of the seven hills of Rome but it offers some of the very best views in the city and Piazzale Gari­baldi is a great place to go to enjoy a meal and a stunning vista of eternal city below.
