Travel Purpose: business
Positive: Staying at the Yoshida's house is a nice way to get into contact with locals and guests. If you don't like anonymous hotels but sharing places and lives with people, this is the right place for you. You can have good conversations with Mrs and Mr Yoshida about contemporary Japan and comparisons with other places. However, keep in mind that being in someone's home requires a bit of a different behaviour compared to being a hotel guest. There are certain rules and the degree of privacy is different than in a hotel. And the house has a little cute dog as third inhabitant, which you'd need to like. I had the biggest of the three guest rooms on the upper floor. It suited me very well with its large bed and armchair to relax and the desk to get some work done. I could even use the veranda one day to sit outside in the slightly cooler garden with my laptop on a hot summer day. When I stayed, there was no airconditioning in the house, which I personally liked. Just be aware if you come in summer and don't like heat. It was nice to be able to order delicious breakfast day by day depending on my needs. Also the car drop-off service at the bus stop was very convenient. I would definitely stay again if I ever return to Sapporo.
