One of its best features is the property’s location – Charlestown, the Eden Project and the coast are all easily accessible by foot. Charlestown features a fantastic Shipwreck and Heritage Centre, many quaint streets (a favourite spot for TV and film sets), numerous grand old ships, and a rich history that’s begging to be explored. After a short drive southward, you’ll come to Mevagissey, a charming village and fishing port that’s a must-visit, as is Fowey in the east. Fowey is a mecca for sailing, and a foodie heaven thanks to its numerous fine restaurants and cafés. There are few places in England that can rival the Roseland Heritage Coast for its natural beauty; comprising of small smugglers’ coves, jagged cliffs and golden sands, there’s a plethora of things to see and do, including boat trips, sea fishing, diving, kayaking and a multitude of independent shops selling local produce and crafts. Alternatively, there’s an unfamiliar world waiting to be explored beneath the waves, so why not try scuba diving? Along with many National Trust-owned properties and gardens in the vicinity, the Lost Gardens of Heligan provide fun for the whole family. The stunning horseshoe-shaped beach at Polkerris is usually high on the list of things to do. There’s also a beachfront restaurant, a local pub and water sports hiring facilities.
