No smoking.. This delightful cottage is situated in the small village of Skinningrove on the trail of the Cleveland Way walk. The owners have taken great care in making this a perfect little retreat for a relaxing comfortable holiday. The property has a welcoming cosy wood burner in the living room and the added benefit of two bathrooms within the property as well as a quiet reading room. The village has a long varied history and is well known for the excellent Cattersty Sands beach which is split in two by the old jetty. The area is popular with dog walkers with the north part of the beach past the jetty being a particularly good area. It is hemmed in by the cliffs where many fossils can be found under the gaze of the seals often seen fishing in the surf. The cottage is ideal for couples or a small family looking to explore this beautiful coastline. It is also perfect for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, with an abundance of footpaths and cliff walks in the immediate area, you can walk along the cliff tops and enjoy the stunning scenery en route to the quaint fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Sandsend and then on to the bustling fishing port of Whitby. The walk from the cottage down to the beach is nice and flat. Whitby itself makes an excellent day out, where you will find plenty to do, with an abundance of attractions to suit all ages, along with an excellent selection of shops and cafés in both the new and old towns. Keep an eye out for the regular themed events and festivals, from the bi-annual Goth weekender to the wonderful folk week. From Whitby, you can take the steam train and view the dramatic scenery of the North York Moors as well as the quaint little villages of Grosmont, Goathland (alias Aidensfield in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’) and Levisham, reaching its final destination at Pickering.
