Located down a quiet lane in beautiful countryside, this charming holiday cottage dates back to 1750 and was originally the home of the gardener to the Ashburnham Estate. Sympathetically restored and adjoining the owner’s property, it retains many of the original features, with oak doors, low beams and an inglenook fireplace. Within a short drive lie the coastal towns of Hastings, Rye and Bexhill, with the historic town of Battle just 3 miles away. Battle has a great range of restaurants and lovely tea rooms, along with shops and the partially ruined Benedictine abbey - you will never be short of something to do. Also worth a visit and within easy driving distance are several castles, beaches, railways, museums and National Trust houses and gardens. Locally there are many beautiful walks to enjoy or simply sit in the cottage garden and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is no need to drive too far as there is a restaurant and pub in the village, as well as village shops close by. The cottage is comfortable and cosy with good size bedrooms and a very spacious living room with dining area. If the weather gets a bit cooler, why not light the inglenook fire using the starter pack of logs and firelighters that the owner provides in the welcome pack along with fresh flowers, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits or cake. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ¾ mile. Free WiFi Initial fuel for the open fire included, thereafter can be purchased from a neighbour or the garage in the village.
