No vehicle access to cottage, entry is accessed by an incline which is cobbled in parts.. Nestled in a secluded and tranquil spot behind the cobbled square in Middleham you will find Wedgewood Cottage. Sitting within the stone flagged courtyard it is hard to believe that you are just a stone’s throw away from the heart of one of Wensleydale’s prettiest villages. This pretty cottage has been tastefully refurbished and offers stylish and very comfortable accommodation for up to three guests. From the minute you step through the door this charming cottage draws you in. The cosy living room has a large sofa to stretch out on while curled up in front of a roaring fire. A bay window with dining table makes the perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee while deciding on the day’s activities. The cottage is complemented by a beautiful shaker style kitchen with Belfast sink. On the first floor is a double bedroom with feature bed and dressing table, looking out over the patio, and a further room with a single bed and wardrobe. Middleham village has lots to offer and is famous for its fabulous castle, once home to Richard III, which sits high and proud on Castle Hill. Being home to several race-horse trainers, you can sit in the village square and watch the wonderful sight as the horses are led through the village up to the gallops each day. There is a good assortment of places to eat and drink right on the doorstep with a selection of pubs serving local ales and traditional food, a fish and chip shop and charming tea rooms right on the village square. For shopping, there is a well-stocked village store, a gift shop and a couple of antique shops, or alternatively the nearby market town of Leyburn with a supermarket and a delicatessen offering fine foods and wines. Each Friday Leyburn hosts its weekly market and has a good selection of quirky shops and tea rooms to visit. Local attractions are plentiful and just a few miles out of the village is The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it’s also well worth a look for visitors of all ages. There are lots of pretty villages all within close proximity of Middleham with Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle just a few miles away. Nearby Redmire is a good starting point for the steam railway, where you can jump on board and sit back and watch the glorious countryside slip by. With so much beautiful countryside you are spoilt for choice in the Yorkshire Dales it really is a walker’s paradise. You can leave your car and step out and explore right from the doorstep. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards. No children under 10 years, except babies under 8 months. No access to the property via car, access by an incline which is cobbled in parts.
