This cottage has a clear view of the lake. 1 of 2, rustic waterfront cottages circa the late '50s, located on 1 acre of lakefront sand beach (across a one lane road) property, along a quiet road on the Lake Michigan side of the Door County Peninsula in Sturgeon Bay. Amazing views, perfect sandy bottom swimming. Take your pup (or no pup!) for a relaxing walk along the beach or quaint, cottage dotted road to the pier, lighthouse and Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Nature Preserve. Arrival 4pm or later; departure by 10am. Nightly rates range between $135 on off-season weekdays to $160 during peak months and on weekends and holidays. Viking Cottage is open for rentals from April to December. 2 night minimum-except between Memorial and Labor Day weekends when we rent by the 6 night stay only, with Saturday arrival and Friday departure. ~Rates on this site are for this platform only, subject to change and are locked in only after your reservation has been confirmed with a deposit. If you love the outdoors and enjoy activities like camping, our unique cottages may be just for you! They were built in the '50s and have loads of character and many return guests. They are rustic; things aren't the most modern, some are quirky, and even after cleaning you may find a little sand and an occasional bug, just like at home. Firefly Cottages are more laid-back than a condo or hotel and over 95% of the guests enjoy their time immensely. But for the <5% who think they're getting a modern 21st century villa, these family style cabins may not be the place for you. We do boast a high recommendation and returning guest rate. The 3 cottages are located on 1 acre of property- the Viking and Nook up front, the Hideaway behind. Despite their close proximity to each other, a good deal of privacy is found with the layout of the yard and bushes. Bring your adventurous spirit and explore Door County with a home base of the finest beaches Door County offers; about 10 minutes from downtown Sturgeon Bay. If you're looking for a romantic escape that includes sipping wine on the beach, listening to the still of the night and moonlit walks at the water's edge..or you'd like to recreate those childhood memories with your family without the intrusion of our modern "plugged-in" life, this is the place for you! Enjoy fishing, campfires, movie nights & fireflies. You've found the perfect escape from the the hustle & bustle! Here is some basic info: ~A non refundable dog fee of $15/night to bring 1 dog or 2 small dogs (under 20 pounds). Double fee for 2 larger dogs (or one large and one small dog.) Please inquire if you would like to bring additional dogs. *Sorry, no puppies..dogs must be at least 1 year * Dogs must be kept under control at all times * Dogs MUST be crated if they're left alone in the cottage* *There is a required refundable $200 security/damage deposit. THE VIKING, with beautiful water view sleeps 6. You'll find a double bed in the downstairs bedroom & 2 doubles in the loft (open-concept with steep stairs-NOT good for toddlers), full bath, kitchen including dishes, utensils and cookware (no dishwasher), wood burning fireplace and TV with antenna channels & DVD. Linens: Provided are one set of sheets and bedding per bed and several dish towels & cloths, at the beginning of your stay. There is not a daily housekeeping service and linens are not changed by us during your stay. Pillows, mattress pads, blankets and/or comforters provided. Bath and beach towels are not. Kitchen supplied with glasses, dishes, pots/pans and a variety of cooking utensils. While this is a full, functional kitchen, do not expect the most modern. They are cottage-y, as in not always the newest appliances, dishes may not always match, etc. Highchairs, booster chairs, strollers and cribs are not provided. Paper/Cleaning Supplies: Beginning supplies are provided that include toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap and garbage bags. This supply is only to get you by for the first couple of days and will not be replenished by management during the stay. All additional items needed i.e. additional toilet paper, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, charcoal and lighter, firewood, soap, shampoo, etc are the guests' responsibility. THe Viking has it's own charcoal grill and there is a shared fire pit on the beach. We do not have A/C. Usually the lake breeze is perfect, but we have good 'ol fashioned fans on hand too. You'll have an opportunity to unplug- no WiFi (and sometimes spotty cell reception). TV in the Viking is antenna channels only + DVD player. This cottage has a MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY of 6. PARKING LIMIT of 2 vehicles. Please ask in advance if you're wanting to bring a small boat as one of your vehicles. This may work, but you must have prior approval. *No camping/setting up tents outside the cottages or on the beach (a sun shade or see-through type shelter on the beach is fine).
