Key trouble? Not to worry: Hostmaker have your back as they have mine, as a host. I have entrusted this successful team with my home, as they've proven their extensive experience in countless ways for myself and my lovely guests. Their innovative multi-channel platform makes everything from signing up to reporting maintenance issues a breeze, and they operate around the clock all year. Oh, have I also mentioned that they spread their wings to many other cities in the world? You're welcome! Neighborhood As an area that once gained a reputation for being a little scruffy, Holloway has certainly gentrified in the last decade, with investment arriving in local businesses and young professionals moving to the area to enjoy its retro charm and affordable housing. Stuck between the delightful but sleepy neighbourhood of Highgate to the north, and the vibrant and exciting (but expensive) Islington neighbourhood around Upper Street to the south, Holloway is the perfect place to enjoy the ‘real’ London; fun, exciting and a little rough around the edges but always friendly and welcoming. For a sense of the high quality nightlife on offer in Holloway, head to Egg; one of the best-renowned warehouse clubs in London for an unforgettable night of techno, house and dance music. If you are travelling with little ones, why not head to Freightliners City Farm with its array of cute, animals including rabbits, sheep and geese. For fans of vintage clothing, no trip to the area would be complete without a visit to Vivien of Holloway, which specialises in stylish 1940s and 1950s clothing. Finally, football fans will know that the Emirates Stadium is home to Arsenal FC and is located in Holloway. You can visit the ground for a behind the scenes tour or try to snap up a couple of the (admittedly overpriced) matchday tickets. One thing can be said for sure about Holloway is that you will never be short of options for excellent places to eat. Marisko is a seafood restaurant where you choose what you want from their selection of great dishes, then you’re charged by weight. Wolkite Kitfo, meanwhile, is a cheap and very cheerful Ethiopian restaurant beloved of the locals and always serving up delicious dishes. Finally, for a slightly different and unusual cuisine, head to Tbilisi which is one of London’s oldest Georgian restaurants and serves excellent stews. For an evening drink, try the Bedford Tavern for a drinks list that really emphasises London, connecting with local breweries for an impressive selection of great craft beer. Big Red is a well known heavy metal pub, beloved amongst the mosher crowd of North London, and cheap, welcoming and friendly even to non-metalheads. Finally, Swimmer at the Grafton Arms specialises in European beers, with a good selection of Belgian rarities. Transit If you are traveling to the flat from Heathrow airport, you can take the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow Airport tube station to Caledonian Road station. If you are travelling in a group of four people or more, an Uber or Gett taxi from any airport may work out cheaper than public transport. Caledonian Road tube station on the Piccadilly line is the closest station (5 min walk). Head south on this line to Kings Cross St Pancras to change for the Victoria, Circle, Northern, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City tube lines and other overground services. The Citymapper app is highly recommended for help getting around! Notes - Please note the flat is on the ground floor and there is no elevator in the property.
