We have long been interested in Finnish Lapland. As a result of its natural forests, unique fauna, and immaculate lakes, it is unquestionably one of our bucket list locations. The Finnish Lapland, one of the most spectacular travel destinations in the North, should live up to its motto of “Nature at its finest.” The Finnish Lapland is a secure location with plenty of things to do if you’re traveling alone. With your loved ones by your side, you can explore a variety of romantic locations, float on a lake holding hands, and take some of the most breathtaking scenery photographs ever.

We fell in love while visiting the Finnish Lapland in the summer. The phenomenon of the midnight sun is amazing. It’s incredible to think that you can still admire the blazing sun and its stunning sunset colours after the clock strikes midnight. Here is our in-depth guide to creating the ideal Rovaniemi itinerary for Finnish Lapland.

When we initially discovered more about it in a documentary, we were enamoured with the thought of using a drone to soar above endless stretches of evergreens. Being the largest land biome in the world, the boreal forest (also known as the taiga forest) is beautiful. It takes up around 6.6 million square miles, or 11.5%, of the earth’s terrestrial surface. Is there anything more relaxing than taking in the solitude and fresh air while being in the heart of a forest in Finnish Lapland?

From Germany to Rovaniemi, we travelled by automobile via some incredible routes that wound through the boreal wilderness. It was amazing. We also observed the midnight sun in unexpected places during the Finnish Lapland vacation, travelled to isolated regions with remarkably quiet lakes, and floated in the water for about an hour despite the temperature being close to 10 degrees Celsius.

We consider the Finnish Lapland to be an incredible location with a lot to offer. It’s ideal for people who wish to get back in touch with the natural world around them, put an end to digital distractions, and rediscover the beauty of the simple life.

We want to thank the Rovaniemi Tourism Board for making our visit possible before we get started. We were offered the opportunity to experience the Finnish Lapland in the summer as Rovaniemi Summer Ambassadors. The tourism board hosted us and made some of our activities feasible.

Places You Can Stay at Finnish Lapland

Our base for exploring Finnish Lapland in the summer was Rovaniemi. We desired a hotel in the heart of the action, close to eateries, shops, and entertainment venues. For this, we slept at the Arctic Light Hotel, a five-star establishment with a variety of rooms and suites to meet any need.

The Christmas Cabin, a standalone home with a sizable bedroom, living room, and kitchenette, was where we stayed. There is a bathroom with a toilet, a shower, and Rituals toiletries. To ensure a comfortable night’s sleep during your summer visit, the cottage has thick drapes. So you can experience the darkness of the night you’re used to even while it’s day outside. However, we advise bringing sleeping masks as well for increased comfort. There are a number of alternatives available to you if you decide against booking the Christmas chalet, including luxurious rooms with private saunas.

Want to have a good day’s start? Visit the Arctic Light Hotel’s breakfast area to enjoy a nutritious, energizing breakfast. Delicious vegan fruit shots, exquisite pastries, various whole cereals, delectable sweet treats, and even alcohol-free champagne are available if you like. A gorgeous-looking table can be made using tasty food. You can choose Chia Pudding. It is delicious.

Best Things You Can Do

We visited Rovaniemi and Ranua on our summer vacation in Finnish Lapland, as was previously indicated. We spent three nights in Rovaniemi, and each day was jam-packed with enjoyable excursions that brought us closer to the natural world. For instance, we experienced some of the most amazing lengthy sunsets you could possibly imagine, learned about the local way of life, floating on a lake, indulged in traditional foods, and more. A year-round vacation spot, Rovaniemi is deserving of a visit. You can take part in winter activities and see the aurora borealis. The amazing midnight sun is seen in the summer. The best thing, then? Santa Clause’s official residence is in Rovaniemi, thus meeting him is a given. If you take kids on vacation.

Travel To the Arktikum

You may learn more about the aurora Borealis history. Some claim that an arctic fox’s waving tail is what causes the stunning, enchanted northern lights. Some people believe that the aurora is caused by the souls of those who play football in the sky. We are more connected to our forefathers thanks to myths and stories. And learning about them is fascinating

Travel To Famous Kotisaari Island by Riverboat to enjoy the seasons

On the Kemijoki River, there is a lovely, small island called Kotisaari. To get there, you’ll need a boat, and Lapland Safaris offers tours that include both a visit to the islands and dinner. The island was once a gathering place for lumberjacks but never had any permanent residents. Kotisaari is special for its four seasons.

The island can flood in the spring, making it unsuitable for year-round habitation. A tiny sauna that is still in use, an ancient cook house with a few bedrooms and a photo exhibit, and a larger hall that is used for gatherings are all present. After eating in the exquisitely designed dining room, we relaxed with coffee and dessert by the fireplace.

Spend at least a couple of hours on the island to take in the peace and quiet. Live on a tiny island, even for a short while, and strike up a conversation with your neighbors over the fire. The weather was a touch chilly even though we took the tour in July, so we really appreciated a cup of hot tea by the fire.

You’ll travel to the island with Lapland Safaris on a conventional boat. They can employ chefs to make food for special events that can be sampled on the boat itself. The tour guide will give you a history lesson and take you around the island. After that, you can enjoy a meal outside while taking in the stunning view of the midnight sun. Berry pie and tea or coffee will be served as a dessert to mouth-watering.

The travelogue will lead you around the river on the way back to Rovaniemi so you can observe the midnight sun from all sides. This is the best in Finnish Lapland.

Enjoy the Midnight Sun

Take the excursion to the summit of Ounasvaara Fell with Lapland Safaris. At precisely twelve o’clock in the morning, enjoy the midnight sun while sipping champagne. It is a very romantic activity to conduct with your significant other. We enjoyed the tour as we made our way up the hill through the breathtaking evergreen forest. Just keep in mind that it can become rather chilly at the top of the hill, so we advise bringing a decent wind-protective shell and a thermal with you. Don’t forget your camera because you’ll have lots of chances to take fantastic pictures here. It’s an excellent place for a drone as well if the weather allows. Unfortunately, it was windy that night, so we decided to interpret it as a reminder to relax, have fun, and just be on the occasion.

Visit Culture House Korundi

The Culture House Korundi is a great place to visit if you enjoy art and history. Few people are aware that this is Rovaniemi’s oldest still-standing structure. It has undergone a number of changes throughout the years, and it is currently a culture house and art gallery. We can promise you that some of the works are extraordinary because the gallery selects artwork from local artists. Some have a lovely narrative of how residents were inspired to follow their artistic passions. Some of the works are inventive, while others conceal a sinister secret. Keep in mind that the devil is in the details when you see anything that draws your attention. You can purchase some local wares after the trip.

Visit locals of Finish Lapland

What is the Finnish Lapland is the greatest adventure? the chance to observe natives’ daily lives firsthand. How do they behave? How are their homes doing? At the Atelier Kangasniemi, you can now schedule a craft experience to find out more about the Lappish way of life. The exciting part was learning that we would design our own distinctive Lappish memento. We created our own bracelets from lovely materials with Irene’s assistance. Irene tattooed a particular Sámi emblem that we selected and pleated onto our bracelets.

After making our personal keepsakes, we were given the opportunity to visit a local’s home to see daily life there. Homemade apple pies and blueberry juice were presented to us. You could tell the house had a lot of history because it was so cozy. When you visit Finnish Lapland, we highly recommend that you try this.

Enjoy Sun floating in Midnight

Can you take a moment to picture yourself floating on a lake while the sun is setting and appreciating the stars? You won’t get chilly or wet; all you’ll have to do is take in the sounds of nature and unwind. This is now possible thanks to Safartica. When you arrive at a distant lake, the staff will outfit you with a unique suit to keep you protected from the weather. It’s a specially made suit that allows you to float on the water without becoming chilled. In fact, the sensation is so amazing that you can’t even feel the water.

You are always safe with your guide because he or she is a professional lifeguard, so don’t worry if you experience any kind of terror. Additionally, we advise you to take some adorable photos while you are wearing the outfit. We guarantee you’ll look ridiculous, which will allow you to laugh with your fellow group members and create amazing new memories.

This journey is also available in the winter, when you may observe the aurora borealis while floating on a frozen lake. Since we had this experience during the summer, we want to return and have it again during the winter. We didn’t anticipate falling in love with it as much as we did, but it is genuinely rather wonderful. This, in a nutshell, was the most memorable part of our trip.

Visit Santa Claus Village

We have already stated that Rovaniemi is Santa Claus’ official residence, so whether you are an adult or traveling with children, we believe you should visit him there. The best part about traveling in the summer is that there are almost no lines to see Santa Claus. The trip itself is far more enjoyable than anticipated, and to be fair, getting a photo with Santa was a fantastic bonus. In fact, I would have loved this experience as a child. After visiting Santa, go through the village, browse the gift shops, and enjoy lunch.

Wrapping up…

Our list has included Finnish Lapland because of its breathtaking and stunning places includes which give you pleasure.
